The RE market is going to suffer another blow, and not because of unemployment. RE will suffer because the reported inventory numbers are fraudulant. The government via various programs is preventing housing inventory from coming onto the MLS (multiple listing service) so buyers cannot see the real inventory in their regions. This is gov't fraud, and should be stopped. Furthermore, there is a growing number of squatters, speculative buyers who stopped paying their mortgages months and years ago who haven't been foreclosed upon (perhaps to keep those balance sheet fantasy prices intact...
