Nordic American Tanker (NAT: 36.9399 +1.3799 +3.88%) issued a press release Monday concerning their results for the 2nd quarter of 2008. Here are a couple of the high points:

  • The Imarex Tanker Index for the 2nd quarter was $70,625 vs. $43,635 for Q1.
  • NAT’s results may differ from the Imarex index.
  • The second quarter dividend to be paid in September is expected to be above $1.50 compared to the dividend of $1.18 in Q1.
  • The strong market is continuing into the 3rd quarter.

Nordic American Tanker (NAT) is out with its first quarter results and boosted the dividend 136% from Q3 and Q4 of 2007. Nordic American runs a fleet of 12 Suezmax tankers all in the spot market. I enjoy the straight forward approach that Nordic American Tanker (NAT) and their CEO, Herbjørn Hansson take to their business. Mr. Hansson will issue a letter letting us all know the state of their business well before the official earnings report comes out. I'm not the best at calling tops or bottoms. Don't claim too, tanker stocks flux radically fast based off of allot of speculation. NAT has a good yield all this of course makes it attractive. I believe this quarter you can probably pick it up on the cheaper side of 30-34 bucks. I like the transparency of the ceo and company. He straight forward and in the shipping market that is a rare quality from the boss. I think I bought it a little to quick, but won't lose any sleep over it.
