NFLD is developing a blood substitute called PolyHeme to treat urgent, large-volume blood loss. On August 31, 2006 it announced that it had completed enrolling patients in its Phase III trauma study. By December the medical comunity and investors will likely know if approval for Polyheme has been obtained.
If the drug is approved, the company will likely be worth several times the current market cap of 381 million. Polyheme keeps longer and is less prone to tampering and carrying infections than regular blood. Thus the military purchases alone should keep the company performing well - not...
