Omnicom, which was formed in 1986 through the merger of three leading U.S. advertising agencies - BBDO, Doyle Dane Bernbach and Needham Harper Worldwide.

Omnicom is a diversified advertising and marketing comglomerate with revenues more than $11 billion a year.

Over the past year the share price of OMC has risen over 25%. Currently it is floating around its 52-week high.
For the quarter, net income was up by 9.7 percent on a 9.4 percent gain in sales.
Earnings per share were up a more impressive 14.9 percent.

During the second week of November, OMD, a unit of Omnicom Media Group, the media services division of Omnicom Group Inc. (OMC), announced a new research partnership with CBS Vision, the research division of CBS Corp. (CBS). The partnership will allow OMD's clients access to the CBS Television City research facility housed in the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

ynyc03.jpgIn a stunning turnaround, Yahoo (YHOO) has 'soft-fired' the ad agency responsible for the "It's Y!ou" ad campaign, which some experts say has faltered with consumers.

    Short Base is Relatively High for Publicis Group

    Publicis Group has announced the acquisition of Razorfish from Microsoft (MSFT), beating Dentsu and WPP (WPPGY). The short base (as measured by Percent Shares Outstanding On Loan) for Publicis Group Sa (PUB) decreased 3% over the past week and now stands at 10%This is down 51% from the 52 week high hit on July 3, 2009. The share price jumped 4% Monday.

    When compared to other Europe Media companies, the short base is well above the average for the sector. The short base for related companies in the sector: Dentsu 3%, Wpp Plc 2%, Omnicom Group Inc. (OMC) 3% and Valueclick Inc. (VCLK) 3%.
