<> The biotech industry is rapidly consolidating as big pharma companies put their cash stash to use in deals ranging from well-known large caps all the way down to unknown micro-caps in an effort to bolster their range of marketed products, late stage pipeline candidates, and drug discovery technology platforms. Genentech (DNA) has rejected Roche's (RHHBY) $89 bid to acquire the remaining 44% of DNA it does not already own as insufficient. I think DNA could easily get $100 per share based on Eli Lilly's (LLY) $70 buyout of ImClo>...

I played my cards right and bought as the stock dropped after Nexavar failed to be approved for the treatment of melanoma. I was already looking toward the possible approval of uses for other cancers such as liver.
ONYX may pull back into the low 20's over the next few months, but with the buyout possibilities and more firms watching this company (and buying) I am going to ride out those small bumps. If it drops below 22 I'll be buying more.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals: Could Acquiring Proteolix Be the Deal of the Year?
<>Onyx’s (ONXX) stock decline in the past few months puzzled its shareholders. Nothing that has come in the news in the past year has been bad. On the contrary, a string of promising results was incessantly coming from the clinical trials of the firm’s cancer drug Nexavar on a variety of cancers. Now there are sufficient data to get an approval for other malignancies, including breast cancers. The drug was first approved for kidney cancer and then for liver cancer and, for a long while, there was no evidence that it would be approved for other cancers. Shareholders, though, did not lose >...

Onyx Pharmaceuticals: Is Nexavar the Next Avastin?
Nexavar, approved for kidney and lung cancer, is already a success by most measures. It should reach blockbuster status, surpassing $1 billion in worldwide annual sales by 2010. Most companies would be quite pleased to have a drug deliver such results, and Nexavar’s owners, Onyx Pharmaceuticals (ONXX) and Bayer AG (BYERF.PK), probably feel the same. However, at this stage in the drug’s life the important question for Onyx and Bayer is, “is Nexavar’s current progress is just the tip of the iceberg?” <>One needs only to look at the success of fellow anti-angiogenesis drug, Avastin,>...
