I came to familiarize myself of Palm upon the announcement of the Palm Pre in January 2009, it was marvelous to see such a unique OS design on a cell phone. I am confident that Palm will continue growth based on the expansion of this OS onto multiple cell phones and network. Starting in January, when the Pre is rumored to launch on Verizon and ATT, and additionally the Pixi launch in November 17th. I believe, these products will enhance Palm's market share against their competitors.

I don't think the Palm Pre cracked the iPhone ice. It has about as much earning potential as Twitter compared with Google. The share prices recently have emasculated traders. Well I think they can rest easy now, a stock that hasn't seen a lot of short activity is seeing a LOT of put activity, indicating that people have lost their zest for this flavor-of-the-month.

New Palm phone won't be enough to save the company

While the new Palm phone looks impressive initially, it still can't save Palm from the fate of being crushed in a competitive market of much bigger players. 1st issue: an exclusive agreement with Sprint, a carrier in trouble with dropping market share and quality issues (a recent Consumer Reports article reported them consistently below other carriers in call quality). 2nd issue: Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc, all desperately wanting to be in the sector and with loads of cash. 3rd issue: Palm could be bought out, but any buyer will wait for a pullback or bankruptcy. ...

Research In Motion: Potential M&A Target?
|
|
|
Could the 30% slide in Research In Motion (RIMM) shares put the company in play? TheDeal.com’s DealScape blog raised that question today. The piece notes that the company remains dominant in the enterprise market, though it clearly face intense competition in the consumer market from Apple (AAPL), Motorola (MOT), Palm (PALM), HTC and others. Likely potential buyers, the post theorizes, include Microsoft (MSFT) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ). <>The piece notes that Microsoft is the most often rumored buyer, given the tight integration of BlackBerry phones with Microsoft Exchange Server. Palm: Barclays No Longer Bearish; Sees VZ Launch Early 2010

Palm (PALM) shares are trading higher this morning after Barclays Capital analyst Amir Rozwadowski upped his rating on the stock to Equal Weight from Underweight, while trimming his price target to $11, from $12. The stock closed yesterday at $10.86. “While we believe Palm faces ongoing competitive challenges, low near-term guidance and an early 2010 Verizon (VZ) launch suggest further share downside is limited at current levels,” he writes. <>Rozwadowski said that checks find “tempered” Pre demand, as well as “ongoing legacy product declines.” He also writes that initial European demand le><>><>><><>< />><><>< />>>><><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />>>< />...

The unwinding of the huge rally in Palm (PALM) shares continues apace. <>A year ago, heading into the Pre launch at CES in January 2009, the Street had price targets on the stock down in the $1-$2 range, and there were widespread concerns about the company’s viability.
