Pepsi's Losing Fizz

Pepsi (NYSE:PBG) released Q1 numbers earlier today. Mondays drop in the final hours of trading was a little suspicious. The results indicate that while the company claims net revenue per case grew 4%, Gross Profit only rose 2% when comparing results to last years comparable Q1. Operating profit actually dropped slightly. Marketing results vary dramatically from region to region. Growth in the US is almost non existent. The most telling sign is the reduction in cash position . Operations generated very little new cash. Significant short term borrowings are being utilized to...

Pepsi's international growth has been steady at 20% for the past three years. Pepsi will continue to grow in the energy drink market (AMP energy drink) taking customers away from Monster. This is a great buy if the market is up or down. We always drink our Pepsi.

The Oxen Report: Weekly Recap, Virtual Account Update
I am going to lay out what we did this week in the market as a recap of the week. I am going to do a better job from here on out of telling you how we are doing as a whole because on a day-to-day basis it can get somewhat overwhelming. Hope you enjoy the recap of stocks and positions we held/are holding. Overall, for the week, we had 6 winners and only 2 losers. Tomorrow, I will post for you some tables showing you historical growth of how we are doing on my virtual portfolio.
Winners:<>1. Shanda Entertainment Interactive (SNDA) - It was not a big winner for the week, but we started out on Mon>...

The Oxen Report - Can the Rally Continue, Crude to Help Decide
<> <><>Hey all. So, yesterday I only had one play of the day, and we actually have moved it into a longer play because it was neutral throughout the day without much movement, and I still think it is very likely a great short sale. The pick was for Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG). I liked the stock as a short sale, in pre-market, but it moved down significantly from those prices when the market opened. We opened a position at 37.35, and the stock ended at 37.34. The most gain we had was around 0.75%. We are holding this one through, and so yesterday was 0/0. Yesterday was also the day to sell Family Do>>>...

Pepsi Bottling Group earnings miss expectations
Filed under: Earnings reports On Tuesday morning, Pepsi Bottling Group (NYSE: PBG) reported third-quarter earnings of $1.14 per share. The earnings include a net, post-tax gain of eight cents per share from favorable settlement of tax audits, restructuring charges, advisory fees, and gains from commodity hedges. A year ago, PBG earned $1.06 during the third quarter, which was matched by this year's results.
Unfortunately for PBG, expectations called for $1.08 per share, leaving the stock lagging a bit in pre-market trade. Looking ahead, PBG expects earnings near the high end of its previousl...

The Oxen Report - Markets Looking Up, But Can They Stay…
<><><> Yesterday did not turn out as well for us as some of the past days, but we were still able to make a slight profit on our short sale of Shanda Entertainment (SNDA). The short sale was bought out of the gate at 49.75. The stock never got down past 49.55 again, and we sold it at the end of the day for 49.63. It was worth 0.25% in gains. Our buy pick of the day was for Mosaic Co. (MOS). The company was picked due to what I thought would be a rally on the day before last evening’s earnings report. Instead, the stock plummeted three percent from our buy in of 46.60. So, we went a weak 1/2 yester>>><><>>><>><><>><><>>>><>><><>>><><>>><><>>><>><>><>><>><>><><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />><>< />>>< />...
