ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has served gas disconnection notice on Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) for not paying gas bills for four months ie March to June 2008, official sources told Business Recorder, here on Tuesday.

“Since August 31 will be falling on Sunday, we are pleased to extend the disconnection notice to September 3,” said Khalid Rehman in a letter to the Secretary Finance. This correspondent telephoned Rehman but his assistant did not put the call through.

ISLAMABAD:The government has arranged Rs 30 billion for Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) to clear some of the dues of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and independent power producers, including Hubco, official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday.

“We have arranged Rs 30 billion from banks to pay some part of overdue amounts, half of which has already been released to Pepco, and the remaining would be released by Saturday evening,” sources said. Till last week, Hubco owed Rs 18 billion, Pepco Rs 11 billion, and PIA Rs 3 billion to PSO.

ISLAMABAD:The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MP&NR) has set the deadline of Tuesday evening for Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) to clear Pakistan State Oil (PSO) outstanding dues, and has conveyed to these entities, in writing, that failure on their part to clear outstanding amounts could result in suspension of fuel supply to them.
