Pacific Ethanol, Inc. produces and sells ethanol and its co-products in the western United States, primarily in California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho. It also provides transportation, storage, and delivery of ethanol through third-party service providers. Its co-products include wet distillers grains. The Company sells ethanol to gasoline refining and distribution companies, and wet distillers grains to dairy operators and animal feed distributors. Pacific Ethanol was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Sacramento, California.

All ethanol stocks have been crashing lately as it was reported there was a surplus of ethanol than the demand. A recent senate bill however massively boosts the mandate for ethanol use from 7.5 billion gallons in 2012 to 36 billion gallons by 2022. This should be a nice push for all these stocks.

Alternate fuels, mainly Bio-based, especially those derived from Corn, are poised for a huge bull-run.  The reasons could range from enviro-concerns to patriotism, or simply the common-sense of renewable resources.

PEIX is a safe bet, coz they R known to have a stake in actual cornfields, so even if the price of corn goes up/down PEIX still wins.

Ethanol is the industry of tomorrow... Get in and catch the wave or be left out in the cold.

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) said Tuesday that first-quarter earnings were $1.05 billion, or $1.63 a share, compared to $441 million, or 68 cents a share, in the same period a year ago. Net sales rose 65% to $ 21.16 billion for the quarter ended September 30, mostly due to higher average selling prices resulting primarily from year-over-year increases in underlying commodity costs. Analysts polled by FactSet Research estimated, on average, earnings per share of 67 cents and sales of $15.79 billion.

Sign of the Times: Ethanol Boom Goes Bust, Utilities, Energy and Consumer Staples Hit Hard

Six of the biggest publicly traded U.S. ethanol producers have lost more than $8.7bn (£5bn) in market value since the peak of the boom in mid-2006 and the beginning of this month, according to the Financial Times. The newspaper focuses on Aventine Energy (AVR), VeraSun (VSE) and Pacific Ethanol (PEIX), where one of Bill Gates' private investment firms lost millions in 2005.
