<> As I wrote previously, both presidential candidates are bullish on the healthcare information technology industry – planning to increase spending and investment as a way to improve the quality of healthcare and reduce costs through automation and the widespread implementation of other technologies such as electronic prescribing and computerized medical records. The accompanying tables highlights the performance over the past year of the ETFI Health IT Index of 38 companies along with the top five < />< />< />< />>...

Hello Friends! Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting my blog, Stock Picks Bob's Advice! As always, please remember that I am an amateur investor, so please remember to consult with your professional investment advisers prior to making any investment decisions based on information on this website. <> I have been doing a little bit of "micro-managing" of my portfolio. I swapped out my VIVO for RMD hoping to catch a bit more momentum, and now, noting that my Lufkin (LUFK) stock, which I just recently purchased 7/16/08 at a cost basis of $91.10 has been struggling while the rest of><>><>><><><>>>><>><>><><>>><><><><><>>>>>><>><>><>><>><>><><>>><>< />><><><>>>><>><><>>><><><>>>><><>>><><><>>><><>>>><>><><><>>><><>>><><>>>><>><><>>><>><><>>><><>>><>><>><>><>><>><><>>><>><>><>><><>>><>><>< />>< /><>><>><>><><>><>><>>><>><>><>><>>...

I was positive about QSII starting late last year and just over the past couple of weeks, thanks to solid earnings that confirmed the company's value, the market has decided to share my sentiments. We may be seeing a bit of an overreaction to the good news from the momentum traders and the like. The subsequent pullback is enough evidence of that for me. I still remain confident in the future prospects of medical records automation, even as economic pressures in the U.S. continue. With a ton of baby boomers looking at retirement over the next few years, it's a good place to be. I won...

<> A big dive in the market yesterday. It looks like investors were spooked by a few earnings bumps and of course the housing market scares everyone. The reality is that housing is bad. There will be a lot of people who lose a lot of money on houses but it will be slow. There aren’t going to be millions of foreclosures in the next month, it’s going to take years for this whole thing to settle out. In the mean time the economy is good, employment is good, inflation is low so as a while the market has no big worries. Take the dips because of sub-prime or housing worries as buying opportunities.><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>><>>...

As I like to do from time to time on this blog, I would like to share with you the current status of my Trading Portfolio. I last wrote up my "trading portfolio update" on June 7, 2007 , a month ago. There have been a few changes since then. But the biggest development has been my partipation in Covestor. You now can check my Covestor page and see the daily changes, all trades, and my performance relative to the indices and other registered investors. Thus far, I have been doing quite well as it has been a fortunate month for me especially with he Ventana bid by Roche . I am...

...Currently I own 88 shares of Quality Systems (QSII) which I purchased with a cost basis of $7.75 on July 28, 2003. QSII closed at $39.05 on March 9, 2007, for an unrealized gain of $31.30 or 403.9% since my purchase. I have now sold portions of Quality Systems nine times, representing partial sales at 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240, 300, 360, and 450% appreciation levels. Thus, on the upside, my next partial sale which would be 88 x 1/6 = 14 shares, would be at a 540% appreciation or 6.4 x $7.75 = $49.60. On the downside, having already sold a portion at a 450% gain, I would sell all rema...
