Especially those able to drill in very deep water. Our U.S. Congress may have their head in the sand on drilling but most companies worldwide are developing their resources as fast as possible. Worldwide demand for oil may be retreating for a while but eventually high demand will return. RIG is the biggest and has the best fundamentals among the drillers.

We will drill for more oil offshore

The gas crunch and recent alert to outr dependance on oil will make us dill offshore. Rig owns one-third of the world's supply of deepwater drilling rigs, and has a $40B backlog - the size of its market cap. It will go up from here.

<> RIG is the leader in deepwater drilling and trading at fantastically low valuation ratios. Fear of a world slowdown, US opposition to deepwater drilling, and the recent decrease in oil supply is behind the sell-off of energy companies. These are all short-term effects which have decreased the price of RIG and made it attractive to a long-term investor. Deepwater oil will become increasingly a part in maintaining the world's current production of oil as the current supply peaks. RIGs Price / Cash Flow (TTM), Price / Earnings (TTM), '08 PEG, Price / Sales (TTM) are historically low. The>...

Transocean Earnings Analysis: A Buy at Current Levels
I liked Transocean's (RIG) earnings release (conference call transcript here). You may want to visit Transocean's website here and download the power point presentations at the end of Q2 09 and Q3 09 to see the information based on which my comments are made. Guidance indicates strengthening confidence in day rates. At the end of last quarter, Q4 09, high spec average day rates were estimated at $408k/day; the November release shows expectations creeping up to $419k/day.

Bookkeeping: Short Valueclick (VCLK)

We are actually down on the day, but then again we don't really move with the market many days with our strategy.
I'm adding a new name to the short side, as Valueclick (VCLK) just reported, gapped down off a poor report and now has rallied back to just under support. A perfect low risk set up. I am risking a 3% maximum loss by shorting at $10.90 and I will stop out around $11.25. We are using about 3% of the portfolio. I would enjoy seeing mid $9s again which would net us 17%.
This exposure is completely for technical reasons, although the fundamentals don't seem too great either. <><><>Citigro>>>...
