A leading technology software company, Novell, Inc. (NOVL) reported fourth-quarter earnings that beat the Zacks Consensus Estimates. Although revenue declined, earnings were up from the year-ago period.

Excluding the non-cash goodwill and intangible assets impairment charge of $279 million, adjusted EPS (non-GAAP) came in at 11 cents in the quarter and beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 6 cents. Non-GAAP EPS increased 83.3% from the 6 cents reported in the year-ago period due to cost-cutting efforts.

Wedbush Downgrades SAP, Upgrades CRM

Wedbush analyst Michael Nemeroff this morning made a pair of enterprise software calls, reducing his rating on SAP (SAP), but turning bullish on Salesforce.com (CRM).

Concur Technologies Inc (CNQR) reported 2009 fourth quarter earnings per share from continuing operations of 14 cents, matching the Zacks Consensus Estimate. 

Concur reported total revenue for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 of $64.8 million, driven by subscription revenue. Total revenue for the quarter was also up 13% from the year-ago quarter. Total subscription revenue was $62.9 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, up 13% compared to the year-ago quarter, and up 3% sequentially.

Microsoft and SAP vs. Oracle - A Very Big Deal

The Wall Street Journal published an article Tuesday (after the market close), where Microsoft (MSFT) and SAP (SAP) would expand their existing partnership and team up to compete against Oracle (ORCL).

Oracle -- Political Problems In Europe
Oracle (ORCL) and Sun Micro (JAVA) seem to have regulatory difficulty with the European Community. The two supposedly US based companies are causing concern in Brussels. Oracle has retorted that the issues that are concerning the Europeans are not concerning Washington DC regulators. So what’s the problem?
