 Switch and Data,  IPO was on 8 Feb 07 . Just trying to get in early, they are in buisness with some big names and the internet is only going to keep growing. One of their rivals is equinix but sdxc is already here to stay and seems to me should only be going up from here on.

The first was our Buy Pick of the Day Direxion Daily Bear Housing ETF (DRV). We chose to go with DRV directly after we saw the homebuilder news on new home sales was poor and had missed earnings. We got in at 20.75 and exited at 21.46 for a solid 3% gain. Our Short Sell Pick of the Day was another winner, as well. <>Yesterday was an okay day for our picks. We only had one buy pick of the day, which was Ultra Proshares Financials (URE). We got into the stock in the morning at 5.65, and we saw the stock trade down to neutral all day. I've had a limit buy order out for Equinix (EQIX) for many months now; the price I was seeking now looking foolish. Talk about a perfect chart.


We talked about this sector, and stock in particular in July [Jul 29, 2009: Guest Post - Colocation Stocks and Industry Overview] and the stocks were expensive then, and have only become more so. Equinix last night reported earnings, and announced an agreement to buy out one of the other names cited in that story - Switch & Data Facilities (SDXC). SDXC is up a cool 29% this AM.

Equinix To Buy Switch & Data For $689 Million In Cash And Stock

Equinix (EQIX) this afternoon said it agreed to buy Switch & Data Facilities Co. (SDXC) for $689 million in cash and stock. Equinix said the deal with strengthen its position in the data center services market, adding 16 new markets across North America. The deal will add 34 data centers in 22 markets in U.S, and Canada, with more than 1 million gross feet of added data center capacity.

Switch & Data Gets $100M Bank Loan

Switch & Data (SDXC), a provider of data center and Internet exchange services,  late Tuesday announced that it has received $100 million of debt financing from a group of banks arranged by RBC Capital. The company said the financing “will accelerate” its capacity expansion program.

In a statement, Switch & Data CEO Keith Olsen said that “improved bookings combined with increasing customer demand afford us the opportunity to accelerate our investments for growth.”
