I see a lot more upside to estimates on SOL for the quarters to come. The stock trades at a forward P/E ratio of 9 and the firm has about $200 million in cash on the books. WM is an almost bankrupt (government salavaged) co. And if that happens, all bets are off... a better bet would have been wachovia.

First Solar Inc. (FSLR) announced that it would sell the 21 MW solar energy project that it has developed and constructed in Blythe, California, to NRG Energy Inc. (NRG). First Solar will provide operations and maintenance services at Blythe under a long-term contract with NRG Energy. This is second sale by First Solar, recently in October 2009 the company sold a 20 MW solar power project in Ontario to the Canadian oil pipeline company – Enbridge Inc. (ENB).

Solar panel company ReneSola (SOL) turned in a third-quarter loss of $10.2 million, or seven cents per share, compared to earnings of 23 cents per share ($32.4 million) a year ago. Quarterly revenue fell to $141 million from $216 million a year ago. ReneSola (SOL) shares are trading higher this morning on an upbeat outlook for 2010. The China-based solar products company reported revenue for the quarter of $140.9 million, down from $215.7 million a year ago, but up from $82.6 million in Q2, and ahead of the Street at $136.8 million.
