I made a poor call on this one initially, but it looks like we're beginning to start climbing.  The semiconductor industry as a whole has been hit hard by all of the oil/energy fluctuations.  SWKS is a great value.

China Automotive Systems (CAAS) - Now That's a Breakout

I've had China Automotive Systems (CAAS) on one of my watch lists for about a year, and actually emailed a few people about the great chart roughly 6-7 sessions ago.  Yesterday was a serious breakout (look at that volume explosion along with the price), and the party continues today.  I mentioned this name on twitter yesterday morning when it was "only" up about 10% on 4x normal volume in the first 60+ minutes. 

Folks, this is a 2 MONTH chart....it's approaching a triple in that time frame.

We mentioned Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) had broken out yesterday but its peers were still under resistance levels.  That is no longer an issue as both TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) and RF Micro Devices (RFMD) received upgrades today and the computers are rushing in as technical resistance has been blasted through.  This still remains one of my favorite spaces for the move into the smart phone culture, along with a backdoor play on the smart grid.

Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) earlier reported revenues of $228.1 million in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, up 19% sequentially and surpassed management’s guidance range of $220 million - $225 million.

Operating margin came in at 14.4% compared to 12.0% in the previous quarter. Earnings per share came in at 24 cents, easily beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 18 cents.

During the quarter, the company retired $17.4 million in 2010 convertible bonds, which led to a dilution of the equity base by two million.
