AT&T Is Still Ringing True

Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Buy The shares of dependable AT&T (T), which I first wrote about here on February 11, 2009, at a price of $25.89, have meandered near $28 for the past six months, save one probe of the $30 level. But the business model is still preferred at this juncture. Here's why.
AT&T's proposed acquisition of 34-million-subscriber T-Mobile USA for $34 billion will face intense regulatory scrutiny, and I think there's a better than 50% chance the deal will be negated on market concentration grounds. Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Buy The stock of AT&T (T), first written about here on February 11, 2009 at a price of $25.89, recently pushed $30, after meandered at/near $26 for the better part of a year, and I obviously still like the shares here.
AT&T remains well-positioned remain a force in the Internet/communications revolution in the years ahead. Look for T's revenue to grow about 2-4% in 2011, led by an impressive increase in cell phone customers (which numbered about 93 million as of June 2010) and wireless data service customers. In 2010, revenue should rise 1-3%.<><>Continue read>>...

Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Buy The shares of AT&T (T), first discussed here on February 11, 2009 at a price of $26, continue to meander. In fact, the stock has formed a modest downtrend that's raised a caution flag.
Even so, the calculation is to stick with the trade on the thesis that T remains well-positioned to remain a force in the Internet/communications revolution in the years ahead. Look for T's revenue to grow about 2-3% in 2010, led by an impressive increase in cell phone customers (which numbered about 85 million as of January 2010) and wireless data service customers.<><>Con>>...

Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Buy In general, an adequate, in-line first quarter for AT&T (T), which reported earnings per share of 59 cents, excluding health care reform-related charges, compared to the Thomson/Reuters First Call first quarter EPS estimate of 55 cents.
AT&T earned 48 cents per share a year ago, in the first quarter of fiscal 2009.
In the first quarter, AT&T added 1.9 million net wireless subscribers -- the highest first-quarter wireless subscriber total in the company's history -- to total 87 million wireless subscribers. Its wireless attrition rate, which is reflected...

Filed under: AT and T (T), Consolidated Edison (ED), Stocks to Buy In a normal market, the conventional outlook of investing for capital gains applies. But in a not-so-normal market of today -- a market that moves sideways (or worse) for more than a year -- the conventional strategy is not adequate.
I fully expect the bull market to continue this year after a 10% Dow correction, but for those who hold a different view, here are a few, quality, dividend stocks that also offer modest capital gain potential:
BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust (BPT) -- Recent stock price: $88. Annual dividend: $14.45. ...

Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Sell AT&T (T) has been the lucky recipient of two million new customers, thanks to the iPhone. But let's not forget that AT&T was Apple's (AAPL) second choice and only got the deal because Verizon (VZ) passed up the opportunity. Now Verizon is intent on making up lost ground and then some, directly targeting iPhone users and making a huge splash with its Android smart phone.
AT&T better be shaking in its shoes -- and shareholders should rethink their stake in this stock. Next: Dog of the Dow #3: Bank of America (BAC) <>Dog of the Dow #2: AT&T (T) originally ap>...

Technical trade #2: AT&T (T)

Filed under: AT and T (T), Technical Analysis, Stocks to Buy AT&T (NYSE: T) fell from a high of almost $43 to less than $22 in a little over a year. T formed a long-term bottom, finally breaking out at $27 after executing a gold cross (confirmation of a long-term bull market).
But profit-taking in the past two weeks has caused a retrenchment back to support at $26.50. The stock could pull back more, but its high quality and visibility make this the bluest of blue chip stocks, with a dividend yield of more than 6% and a strong buy recommendation by S&P (five stars). <><>Continue reading <>Technical t>>>...

Despite the awful economy, my newest portfolio is doing better than any other since 1999-2000, actually passing a 100% gain recently, although it has dropped back slightly with the market the past few trading days.
Ten years is recent enough for me to remember giving everything back and then some. I'm not doing that again. But what to do? I certainly do not like sitting with...

AT&T is good dividend stock

I think AT&T has a strong position in the US and will continue to grow in the industry. If they keep the dividend as is, this is a good buy point. As long as they have an exclusive with Apple, they will continue to drive their network's technology to faster speeds (HSPA+ and eventually LTE). However, when everyone moves to LTE, it will get quite interesting.
