Tesoro is operating 7 refineries with a combined capacity of approximately 658,000 barrels per day and. I stated on my post for TSO the con game the refiners are using and after reading Tom Armisteds post and a comment by the AP a minute ago I want to clarify a couple of things.
Tso and the other refiners had reduced profits fot 2007 when compared to 2006. Before you shed any tears for TSO their net for 2007 was down to $566 million or $4.06 a share compared to $801 million or $5.73 a share. Lest you think their CEO may be hurting after a down year he took home over $10 million for 2007.
Tso cut run times from 89.6% of capacity in June 2007 to 82.2 % of capacity at the end of March,200...

Hello Friends!  Just a brief note to let all of you know that I purchased 140 shares of Imperial Oil (IMO) at $35.115 to get me up to the 5 position minimum that I utilize in my trading account.

Imperial is the Canadian subsidiary of ExxonMobil (XOM) which owns about 60% of the stock.

The company is traded on the AMEX where it made the list of top % gainers closing at $35.52, up $4.90 or 16% on the day, a few cents higher than my purchase.

Short Interest Rising in Tesoro; Shorts Covering Airline Positions

The refiner Tesoro (TSO) slid 6.9% to $17.28 Tuesday, as crude oil fell as much as$8 a barrel as hurricane Gustav faded - before recovering later in the day. Coal companies were particularly hard hit as well. Short interest has been building up in Tesoro for the last three months, although the percentage of the company's Market Cap out on loan (%MCOL) has been higher than 10% for the last two years. Now, this figure is closer to 30%, with 27.3% MCOL today. Utilisation is at 72% which means there is little left to borrow, and there are 33 Days to Cover.
