<> Brazil: Even though nation's key Bovespa Index is up 535% since 2003 -- almost nine times the return of Standard & Poor's 500 Index, Brazil is not perfect, around a third of Brazilians live in poverty, but growth around 4.7% and a sharp drop in inflation have made a middle class a bit richer that is buying wireless phones, traveling or going to college. The world's biggest exporter of raw material is highly dependent of global economy too. It's a question of sustainability and whether a global economic slowdown would temper growth in this emerging market. Anyways, investors shou>...

VIV recently turned a quarterly profit. Improving fundamentals and the appeal of a mobile phone play in Brazil may send this ADR to test $10. Brazilian equities have had quite a run up but although a pullback is likely, the upward trend for brazilian stocks is likely to continue for several months. EWZ tracks the Bovespa and is a fine way to play this uptrend. I am also taking small positions in NETC (CABLE, VOIP), VIV (a cell phone service provider) and SBS (a water utility)

Supermodel Stock Index Update: Celebrity Models Outperform the Dow
Two top modeling celebrities, Gisele Bündchen and Heidi Klum, both of which had celebrity stock indexes created by Stockerblog.com, have had their indexes updated and compared to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The one thing that these women have in common, other than the fact that they are wealthy, successful supermodels, is that both of their indexes have outperformed the Dow over the last two and a half years.
Their indexes are based on the companies that they are connected to in some way, such as acting as celebrity spokesperson. Since January of 2007, the Gisele Bündchen's index was< />< /><>>< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< /><>>< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< />< /><>><>><>>< />< /><>>< />< /><>><>< />>< />...

Supermodel Gisele Still Outperforms the Dow Jones Industrial Average
Gisele Bündchen, who was named by Forbes Magazine as the top earning supermodel and Guinness World Records said that she is now the richest supermodel in the world. In 2007, I developed the Gisele Bundchen Stock Index, which contained the stocks of companies that Gisele is connected with, such as being the celebrity spokesperson. At the time, her index was outperforming the stock market. I have updated the index to the present time, and noticed that Gisele has continued to outperform the Dow Jones Industrial Average significantly.
The stocks in her portfolio include: Volkswagon (VLKAY.PK) Pol...

<>Apple (AAPL) may soon be offering more songs on its iTunes music store that are not copy-protected, according to multiple sources reporting this morning. The Wall Street Journal runs an article on its Web site, citing “people familiar,†reporting that “Apple Inc. is set to unveil a series of changes to its iTunes Store that represent significant shifts in its longstanding approach to the business of selling songs online†(Subscription required to read Journal articles.) <> By Rafat Ali - Tue 16 Sep 2008 10:45 PM PST<> Hope spring's eternal in music, and it seems, in the music industry as well. Jean Bernard Levy, the CEO of Vivendi (EPA: VIV) (which owns the biggest label Universal Music Group), told FT that he sees a new age of revenue growth, especially with digital and mobile sales. He cites Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) Comes With Music, Apple's (NSDQ: AAPL) efforts and now MySpace Music as reasons for optimism, despite the gloom and doom in the industry. Universal, which >>...
