VZ: Bull or Bear?
Verizon: Safety Plus Growth

Filed under: Verizon Communications (VZ), Stocks to Buy Verizon Communications (VZ), first discussed here on February 12, 2009, at a price of $29.86, continues to power higher, ascending to about $37 with a few hiccups, and I still like the shares here.
In 2011, slow growth and dividend play Verizon should post a 2% to 2.5% revenue gain, after flattish revenue in 2010, with data services being the key revenue increase driver. Meanwhile, Verizon's landline business continues to provide revenue stability. Continue reading Verizon: Safety Plus Growth <>Verizon: Safety Plus Growth originally appeared>...

Has Verizon Bottomed at $25?

Filed under: Verizon Communications (VZ), Stocks to Buy Verizon Communications (VZ) appears to have put in a bottom at/near $25 this summer, and I obviously still like the shares here.
Look for VZ to post 2-4% revenue gains in 2010 and 2011, with data services being the key revenue increase driver. Cell phone subscriber additions should lead the sector, but competition may hurt overall subscription prices. As of June 2010, Verizon has 92 million wireless subscribers, including 1.3 million added in the second quarter. I first discussed Verizon on February 12, 2009 at a price of $29.86.<><>Continue>>...

Filed under: Altria Group (MO), Verizon Communications (VZ), Lilly (Eli) (LLY), Stocks to Buy Great dividend picks are easier to find than you think. Retirees looking for safe places to stash their cash are already familiar with many blue chips that have hefty yields. It's just that when investors stop at the grocery store or pay their phone bill, they aren't thinking about how the big brands they're doing business with are actually good dividend payers. <>Here are three of America's best know public corporations with yields that are about twice what 10-year Treasuries pay. Why the Market Is Wrong on Verizon

Filed under: Verizon Communications (VZ), Stocks to Buy <> You'd think that Wall Street would have learned its lesson after the market's crash in 2008 and early 2009. But already investors are returning to short-sighted, self-destructive behavior by chasing fads and forgetting the facts.
Look at the Morgan Stanley U.S. REIT Index (RMZ), for example. It has been flying high even in the face of horrific commercial and residential real estate figures. Since February 9, RMZ is up about 25%. The index has skyrocketed over 150% from its March 2009 low -- about double the gains for the broader market.>...

Cheap stock with big dividend

VZ is the classic cheap stock trading near it lows paying a big dividend. The CEO visited Cramer on his show this week and said the dividend was safe. Obviously that question is being asked and I think the reason he went to Cramer was to smooth over and reassure the masses. The dividend yields 6.7% and as you know when something is too good to be true then it probably is not. In this case a stock near its lows with a big dividend and showing low relative strength is a red flag to me.

Filed under: AT and T (T), Stocks to Sell AT&T (T) has been the lucky recipient of two million new customers, thanks to the iPhone. But let's not forget that AT&T was Apple's (AAPL) second choice and only got the deal because Verizon (VZ) passed up the opportunity. Now Verizon is intent on making up lost ground and then some, directly targeting iPhone users and making a huge splash with its Android smart phone.
AT&T better be shaking in its shoes -- and shareholders should rethink their stake in this stock. Next: Dog of the Dow #3: Bank of America (BAC) <>Dog of the Dow #2: AT&T (T) originally ap>...
