A big dive in the market yesterday. It looks like investors were spooked by a few earnings bumps and of course the housing market scares everyone. The reality is that housing is bad. There will be a lot of people who lose a lot of money on houses but it will be slow. There aren’t going to be millions of foreclosures in the next month, it’s going to take years for this whole thing to settle out. In the mean time the economy is good, employment is good, inflation is low so as a while the market has no big worries. Take the dips because of sub-prime or housing worries as buying opportunities.

Honda is a buy because of a number of factors:
1. In cars, it is pushing into China with both Honda and Acura lines
2. HondaJet is going to be a growth area
3. Next generation Honda engines look promising
4. Sales of motorcycles growing outside of Japan, specifically India and Brazil
Moreover, their motors just plain work, be it in marine settings (outboard), on the field (lawnmowers, generators), or on the road (Civic, Accord, etc.) regardless of where they are made (Japan, US, China, and soon to be in Vietnam).

One thing can be said of Honda: It is a well-run organization. Increasing market share and profit every quarter while whittling away at debt and breaking ground on no less than three new projects (a factory in Indiana, an aeroplane business internationally and the development of new alternative-energy systems), there seems to be little in the way of a continued uptrend in the long- and very-long-term. Honda will is also best positioned to deal with any future energy transitions such as hydrogen, electric, solar. They also happen to make the best cars in the world...I have owned 5 of them.
